Oral Health Screening Camps: Why They Matter for Children (Our Visit to Arya Vidya Mandir, Bandra West)
Short answer: Dental screening camps in schools help find tooth and gum problems early, before they hurt, and teach children the habits that keep teeth healthy. Dr. Mohit Bodhwani (Endodontist) and Dr. Shaili Shah Bodhwani (Orthodontist) visited Arya Vidya Mandir, Bandra West, and conducted dental check-ups for the children.

What happens at a screening camp
Screening camps generally focus on examination and guidance rather than treatment, though what each camp includes can vary. At a camp, a dentist examines each child’s teeth, gums and bite and notes anything that may need a follow-up visit with the parents. At this visit, our doctors conducted dental check-ups for the children at the school.
Why early checks help
Small cavities and gum problems are easier to manage when found early. Left late, the same problems can mean bigger treatments, missed school days and discomfort a child may not know how to describe.
Habits worth teaching young
- Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, including before bed.
- Keep sweets, sticky snacks and sugary drinks to mealtimes where possible.
- Plain water instead of sugary drinks between meals.
- Dental check-ups at the intervals your dentist advises for your child. Some children need them more often than others, even when nothing hurts.
