Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get my teeth professionally cleaned?
Many people do well with a check-up and cleaning every six months. Your dentist may suggest a different gap if you have gum problems.
Does teeth cleaning hurt?
It is usually comfortable. If your teeth are sensitive or the gums are inflamed, tell us and we will adjust our approach.
Does scaling damage the teeth or create gaps?
No. Scaling removes tartar. Gaps may seem more visible after cleaning because swollen gums settle down.
What is the difference between cleaning and scaling?
Scaling removes hardened tartar from above and below the gum line. Polishing smooths the tooth surface. They are usually done together.
Is bleeding from the gums normal after cleaning?
Mild bleeding can happen for a day or two if the gums were inflamed. If it continues, contact us.
